Globally almost 600 million households<\/b><\/a> rely on bottled water for drinking.<\/p> A million bottles a minute<\/strong>: world’s plastic binge ‘as dangerous as climate change’.<\/p><\/div><\/div> Less than 20% are recycled<\/strong> and 7% turned into new bottles. The rest end up in landfills, groundwater, rivers and our oceans.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div> Scientists are finding plastic pollution in most fish and seabirds.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/section> In May 2017 scientists found nearly 18 tonnes of plastic on one of the world\u2019s most remote islands<\/strong><\/a>, an uninhabited coral atoll in the South Pacific.
